Andreas Böhm (aka DarkStar.)
"Music expresses that which can not be said
and on which it is impossible to be silent."
- Victor Hugo
Andreas Böhm is a mostly self-taught composer living in Germany. He's been a computer musician since 1996 with a great passion for electronic music and soundtracks, for movies and especially games.
It all began in the early 90's with the minimalistic attempt to compose on a Commodore 64. Several years later, PC programs such as FastTracker II, Buzz Machines and MODPlug Tracker provided interesting new ways to produce music. These days our equipment and the software seems to be a quantum leap ahead of what we were using ten years ago. This opens up opportunities for more creativity and it lets us finally compose the music in the quality we've always dreamt of.
Andreas has self-produced a number of privately-released CDs of electronica music, demonstrating the patience, enthusiasm and planning that it takes to get such endeavours done.
His other creative pastime is photography. But instead of talking about it at great length, let's just let the pictures speak for themselves on Andreas' photo blog: Pixel Fields.
